January marks the peak of the high season in Phuket, and the island welcomes the first week of the new year with concerts. The band Mumiy Troll will perform at the Lotus Arena.
The history of major concerts in Thailand began with Mumiy Troll; the band performed the first large-scale concert by a Russian artist organized in Phuket. It is fitting, then, that Mumiy Troll will also open this anniversary season.
They are one of the legendary bands of the Russian music scene. Frontman Ilya Lagutenko has long been known as the ultimate "nautical romantic" of the Russian music world. Hits such as "Utekay," "Nevesomost," and "Vladivostok 2000" are eagerly awaited by both longtime fans and a new generation of listeners; these songs have long since become part of our musical heritage. The band's concerts always feature live sound: the musicians keep the audience captivated throughout the show, and the setlist typically blends classics with tracks from their latest albums. A unique chapter in their history is the Mumiy Troll Music Bar: the first bar created with the band's involvement opened in Vladivostok in 2011.
